We are planning a major update session for all our servers to start this weekend or early next week. This will include the following list of changes to ALL of our servers:

1) PHP 4 will be removed, this was EOL in Jan of last year and is no longer updated, at this point it is a security risk just to have it on the server.
2) MySQL will be upgraded to MySQL 5 on all servers
3) Correct timezones will be set for all servers & time will be checked to be accurate on a regular basis (system clocks aren't entirely accurate) (this may cause a "hole" in some of your logs)
4) RVSiteBuilder updated to its latest version
5) Fantastico updated to its latest version
6) PHP 5 upgraded to its latest (stable) version
7) Apache upgraded to its latest (stable) version
8) New Kernels for all boxes (this will require a reboot of the server)

Please NOTE: ALL transfers will be DISABLED during this update session (because we're upgrading mysql) once the session is complete they will be enabled again.

And to answer the initial barrage of questions about PHP4:
No, this is not something we will put off.
No, this is not something you can opt out of.
No, you can not have "a few more weeks" on this.
Sorry, but we've supported an EOL product for a year, we have to draw the line in the sand somewhere.

We have been working on our Windows hosting service the past few weeks and due to the extensive advanced support and server setups required for Windows hosting we have decided to roll out the Windows module at a stable level with full on 24x7 windows support.

In order to offer Windows support we will need to charge an additional €1.00 a month on top of the windows packages. This €1.00 will go toward the additional costs involved with licensing and the additional Windows Technical Support agents required to properly support this.

Please understand that this price will be applied to ALL members using the Windows platform packages.

This price change will take affect 11/1/2008.

After an order for a windows package a seperate invoice will be created.

(it needs to be paid on an annual basis - €1 * 12 Months = €12)

We have at least doubled the hardware each node has to quad core servers with 4GB of RAM. In addition to that upgrade we will be provisioning servers with a RAID 1 setup from this point on.

We will also be adding RAID 1 to as many of the older servers as possible and will create new threads in the Network section as servers are upgraded.

RAID 1 basically mirrors the primary hard drive to a slave drive at all times in case of hardware failure which can result in hours of downtime as seen in the past.
